As far as beauty products go I have been trying to use up what I have before getting something new. This month I ran out of the last of my body lotions and decided to try something new. I have an issue with lotions in general as most end up being tacky and leave a residue. Within a group text I asked for recommendations and my friends did not have true favorites. I ended up at Target and price for quantity as well as the packaging drew me to St. Ives Naturally Indulgent Body Lotion with Coconut Milk and Orchid Extract. At $4.79 for 21fl. oz. I thought it would be worth a try and I am so glad I tried it. It has a wonderful coconut scent that isn't too overpowering and the lotion absorbs right into the skin leaving no film or residue on your hands. It is fast becoming the best lotion I have tried.
My next favorite was a Christmas gift. My husband, quick to pay attention to wishlists, noticed I had been eyeing Bite Beauty for a while. I have been meaning to try all of the pencil lipsticks that had been on the market recently but never have had the chance. The Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Velvet was a wonderful first introduction. At $24 it is definitely a pricey lip product but is definitely worth the splurge in my opinion and it makes me excited to try some more Bite Beauty cosmetics. The product is creamy and moisturizing and applies easy with the twist-up applicator. The color is a beautiful matte pale pink.
My last beauty favorite is a long-time favorite. I got this lovely little lip treatment within a Birchbox long ago and it is my absolute holy grail lip product. Fresh's Sugar Lip Treatment in Rosé is perfect. The full size retails at a pricey $22.50 but I cannot recommend this lip treatment enough. It is such a moisturizing and luxurious product on the lips. It has a faint smell of lemon and reminds me vaguely of something from my childhood. I fully plan to repurchase this when my mini sample runs out. You really just have to go try it. Seriously, go.
My next favorite is a nifty little handheld device that I went back and forth trying to decide whether to purchase. Let me preface this favorite saying that I am wholeheartedly a gamer. I have had probably, excessively, every gameboy that has come out. I started with a very cool transparent Gameboy pocket and my most recent Gameboy is this gorgeous Aqua and White Nintendo 2DS. At $129.99 it is a great price for what you get. My husband has a 3DS XL (the Mario & Luigi edition) so I was initially toying with the idea of getting one of my own. My favorite Gameboy of all-time was the Gameboy Micro. It was the perfect size and I could fit it in any of my purses plus it had a backlit screen. While too small for most people, I loved it so much I even bought a second Japanese version in a gorgeous lilac color (I still have it). So when we were at Toys R Us picking up the latest Pokemon X & Y and Super Smash Brothers WII U games, I noticed this lovely Aqua and White Nintendo 2DS and that was that. I actually really like the slab format and the construction is very sturdy. The lack of 3D was not a deterrent factor at all as I would tend to play most of the games on the 3DS with the 3D turned off. Overall, I am so happy with my purchase and I highly recommend it.
My first clothing favorite this month was also a Christmas gift from my husband. As this was our first Christmas together as a married couple we decided to just limit ourselves to $25 to use to fill each other's stockings. Well he cheated and spent a lot more. I have been such a fan of Wildfox ever since I discovered my first "baggy beach jumper" at Selfridges in London, UK during a semester abroad. Wildfox's Baggy Beach Jumper's usually retail at $108 but this seasonal gingerbread man sweater is listed at $98 (also it is listed as scented? I have not noticed a scent). These sweaters are super comfortable and are meant to wear on the bigger side. While I like my clothes a little more fitted I can tend to get away buying an Extra-Small but if I want an even more comfy effect I opt for a size Small. I have quite the collection of Wildfox clothing as they are all so whimsical and fun that I can't seem to keep myself from wanting more.
Last clothing favorite of January was a wedding gift from my Mom. This gorgeous long-sleeve robe is the Stone Cold Fox's silk robe in a limited edition Bloom Print. A similar style costs $215. This is one of the more expensive things in my closet right now and I love it so much. The silk and lace create such a delicate feel and it is perfect for lounging around with a cup of coffee on a lazy Sunday morning. I first found the Stone Cold Fox brand when I saw an Instagram post of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in the Love Jumper of the same print at a Victoria's Secret event. From then on, I have been in love with the brand and all the silk fabrics. I hope to save up for some more pieces soon.
What have you been loving in January? What should I pick up for February?
So you have officially convinced a reader to purchase a recommended product!! I've been eying the fresh' slip treatment and now I'm sold! I've been using fresh's lip polish as an exfoliater during the winter months and I've loved it so far. I'll definitely let you know about the rosé lip treatment :)
ReplyDeleteYAY! Do it and let me know what you think! I'm completely in love with it. I've been wanting to try their lip exfoliator and their face products in general.
